An interesting attempt to compare film to digital in an apples to apples manner.
As someone who shoots both film and digital, the argument rings strange for me. They are inherently different processes, and each tool yields different processes and different results.
It’s rarely been my goal to have my digital files mimic the look of film, though I will admit to having done just that once or twice.
Much like carpentry tools I see this discussion as more of using the right tool for the job.
For Real Estate, candids, people photography I typically use my Canon 5D3 for its amazing low light ability, ability to bracket exposures and quickly edit images when I get home.
For sports I typically use my Canon 1D3 for its raw speed and amazing focus abilities.
For portraits and landscapes I’ve been enjoying a return to film, specifically medium format 120. Unlike the review attached this isn’t really an apples to apples comparison since the frame size is so much larger. The quality of the image, bokeh, and detail can in the right circumstances exceed anything a 35mm full frame sensor can achieve.
Why pick?
My two cents.
